The 52 Project: 13/52

'A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2016.'

Dear Ruby,
You've been asking for a lot of cuddles lately, and reverted back to calling me Mama. I can't help wondering if this is all part of you anticipating the change that will be happening soon when your baby brother arrives. Last weekend when you were poorly and fell asleep on me, I looked down at you sleeping peacefully, stretched along the length of my tummy and legs, and had a wave of nostalgia and slight sadness that you are no longer my baby. Every now and then, I'll have these moments of looking at you and marvelling at how much you have changed and grown in the 28 months since you were born. It's completely incredible to watch you learn and grow, and while I would never wish for you to stop growing, there is something ever so slightly bittersweet about how time marches on, and we have to leave the beautiful season of babyhood behind us.
You come out with some wonderful phrases, and I wanted to write them down, as the way you speak is constantly changing, and I don't want to forget these things. Here are some new phrases from this week:
'I love my Mama.'
'I've got so much energy, Mama!'
'Dance with me, Mummy!'
'Snuggle sofa...I get blanket...all cozy.'
'Be pushed in!' You shout this multiple times a day, every time you climb up onto your chair at the table, and need to be pushed in.

All my love,
Mummy xxx

  1. Oh what a fabulous shot! It sounds like you're really relishing the last few weeks of having all the one on one time you could get, and what a lovely way to wait for a brother :)

    1. Thank you for your comment, Kathy. Our memories are never as good as we hope they will be, are they?! I am well aware that if I don't write these things down, I will most definitely forget them!
