Thursday / Sequoia National Park

The Giant Forest in Sequoia National Park was another place of wonderful serenity. We took our time, slowly meandering around the giant Sequoias – we really were walking among giants.

To give you a vague idea of just how enormous these full of character trees, we stood with our arms outstretched (with a combined arm span of about 7.5metres) and didn’t even reach half way round these trees.
The trees were so tall that I didn’t manage to capture a single one its entirety with my camera lens.
Sequoia National Park was a treat for the senses. The scent of heat, humidity and trees, incredible variety in textures of the trees...
 Hollowed out tree trunks
 beautiful wildflowers
At the start of our drive as we left the park we came across this fallen Sequoia creating a bridge in the road. It was small for a bridge yet large for a tree - the fact that John can't touch the top means that it's at least 2.5 metres high / tall.

Next installment: Death Valley.
