{The Windmill Inn at sunset}
We have had the most wonderful weekend of Summer weather here in England, in spite it being October. This never happens. I was so sure Autumn was here to stay until it was time to give way to Winter, but I was very happily wrong, as temperatures soared to record high's for October.
We relished in this little heatwave & headed for the Lido in Portishead (which had shut for Winter last weekend!) for an outdoor swim on Saturday. Funnily enough, the whole of Portishead had also had this idea, so they were allowing 20 minute sessions in the pool before blaring a horn to signal that their time was up, before the next 100 people, who had waited patiently at the sides of the pool, plunged right in. The lido volunteers also had the brilliant idea of setting up a barbeque, pre-empting the hunger of everyone who had chosen to spend their afternoon by the pool.
After our swim, we went to our favourite little eatery in Portishead - the Windmill Inn. It looks out over the Severn Estuary - the perfect place to be at sunset. Although the trees slightly blocked our view of the sun setting, I still thoroughly enjoyed watching the sky switch from one glorious hue of blue to another.
